BEST AND WORST OF TATCHA! Is this luxury skincare worth it

This lockdown has made me realize that with extra care and just a little more effort, one can obtain healthy skin. You don’t have to use high-end products to achieve excellent results. It boils down to knowing your skin type, using great active ingredients, knowing how and when you use them as well as being consistent. I’m planning on sharing my updated current skincare routine with you guys, so stay tuned for that post. Today I’m reviewing my very first Tatcha skincare set, so let’s get into this.   Tatcha skincare for makeup lovers set – $59   Description A set with three essentials made with pure, kind-to-skin Japanese ingredients that purify, prime and hydrate to impart a natural low-light makeup and without. This set claims to help combat dull and uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles as well as dryness. It’s also suitable for normal, dry and combination skin types. The set contains: 1. 40ml Full-Size Luminous Dewy Skin Mist This silky, fine mist moisturizer can be used in various ways. Under makeup to soothe and hydrate Over makeup to set and smooth Throughout the day to hydrate and re-energize for a dewy glow On Hair for a beautiful sheen This mist is formulated with more than 20 per cent botanical oils and humectants to leave skin dewy. Other noteworthy ingredients are A proprietary complex of Okinawa red algae Hyaluronic acid Hadasei-3 Trinity of Japanese superfoods – green tea, rice and algae   2. 25ml Travel size Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil A two in one makeup remover and cleanser with camellia oil that gently melts away impurities, even waterproof makeup, leaning behind pure silky soft skin. Camellia is rich in oleic acid and an excellent source of Vitamin A, B, D and E and nourishing Omega 3, 6 and 9.   3. 7g Travel size The Silk Canvas A velvety priming balm of pressed silk that smooths and makes makeup last longer while keeping it out of the skin, helping to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. A multi-tasking primer that can be used for face, eyes and lips. It contains thin layers of silk (fibroin, sericin and silk powder),  anti-pollution natural actives and their Hadasei-3 complex.   My experience The Luminous mist This has one of the finest mist. Nobody wants a harsh spritzer when you’re spraying your face. It has a faint pleasant scent, nothing overpowering. I’ve used this mist as its suggestion to be used and I only really like it for one purpose. Just so you’re aware, I have oily to combination skin. The mist doesn’t work well under makeup, it doesn’t settle well and causes my makeup to slips. It doesn’t work well as a makeup setting spray since it just leaves my skin oily. I only ever use it as a hydrating mist on my no makeup days. It instantly soothes the skin and gives it a lovely glow. This luminous mist reminds me of the Pixi glow mist with argan oil. If you’re looking for a more affordable dupe for the Tatcha luminous dewy mist then definitely check out the Pixi glow mist. The Camellia cleansing oil This cleansing oil smells great and works pretty well. It melts makeup with ease and rinses off easily without leaving an oily residue. This cleansing oil is also really gentle on the skin and leaves it feeling well-nourished. I do however use more than 2 pumps to remove a full face of makeup (about 4 pumps). My preferred makeup remover is a cleansing balm since I use less than when I use a liquid oil form. I do enjoy this cleansing oil but don’t love it. The Silk Canvas primer The primer has a faint pleasant scent, has a smooth texture and spreads well. I usually spread the product and then tap it into sections where my pores are more visible. It settles pretty quickly into the skin and you immediately notice how blurred your skin looks. It creates the perfect, most flawless canvas for your makeup. No pores in sight.   Final Thoughts Tatcha is a pretty hyped up brand and many people love their products. I’ve only tried these three products and I would personally only repurchase the Silk Canvas Primer. The Luminous skin mist doesn’t work too well for before or after makeup application especially for those like me with oily to combination skin. I just end up looking extra oily and it’s not the kinda look I’m after. If that dewy, almost sheen glow-look is what you prefer, then you would like this mist. The Cleansing Oil is a lovely product but you end up using more than what is suggested to use, so you’ll probably run out of product quicker than expected. The Silk Canvas Primer is my favourite products from this set. I’ve been wanting to try it for the longest time. There’s been so much hype about how amazing it is and I kid you not, this primer is well worth all the hype and definitely worth the price tag. I would repurchase this primer. Let me know if you’ve tried any Tatcha products? Would you splurge on any of these?   XoXo Yolanda Share Me!
