Let's talk about one of my favorite fashion subjects: couture. As you know, couture garments are made-to-order, so the hours have got to add up. New York magazine did some reconnaissance on the process of creating one of the most spectacular dresses of the season: the Chanel finale (yes, the one worn by a pregnant bride!). And, gosh, I'm still in shock trying to process all that time. The dress is actually made out of neoprene, the sporty textile that has been trending—but a scuba gown, that's a revelation! The dress claimed 430 hours of work from the Chanel team, while the medallion at the bust took another 18 hours (crystals, sequins, and pearls embroidered on leather leaves). The dramatic cape is hand-painted, with beads and stones embroidered on top, for a final work total of 450 hours. The hat, called a Bibi, is covered in bronze-painted tulle embroidered with accents like those found on the cape. It took an additional 20 hours of work. Oh, and the thong sandals she's wearing under the dress? They're embroidered in the same manner (with the same materials) as the medallion and clocked in at 15 more hours. Be sure to check out

The name is Lagerfeld, Karl Lagerfeld. The Kaiser delivered a stunning James Bond-inspired Chanel couture show in Paris this morning—so stunning, in fact, that it's almost hard to focus on the clothes (which were of course, gorgeous). The Grand Palais was turned into Cercle Privé, a Chanel-branded Casino akin to Casino de Monte-Carlo. The dress code? Black tie. The guests? Hollywood royalty. First to the roulette table were Chanel face Kristen Stewart and Julianne Moore, outfitted in divine black dresses and diamonds from the collection. They were soon followed by fellow gamblers Lily Rose Depp, Lily Collins, Rita Ora, and Jemima Kirke. The scene at the Grand Palais Then the runway began as models wearing black bobs, including Sasha Pivovarova and Lindsey Wixson, floated down in smart tweed suits, elaborate cocktail dresses, and red carpet-ready evening gowns. Kendall Jenner nabbed the coveted spot as the bride for the finale—and she looked amazing in a white pantsuit.
